Stan Olsen

Stan Olsen was born September 1, 1921 in Denmark where he lived until he was 5 years old. In 1926 his family immigrated to America.  Stan spent many hours toiling in the farm fields to help support his mother after his father passed away when he was fifteen years old. During WWII Stan was a machine gunner on a B-29 for the US Air Force serving in the Pacific.

After the war Stan became a farmer for a short time and also worked for several years as an electrician. While working as an electrician the late 40’s Stan would buy old cars, fix them up and resell them. This was more of a hobby than a living but it took hold and Stan has been selling cars ever since.

In 1951 Stan opened his first car dealership in Walnut Iowa which also served as a Texaco gas and oil pumping station. Stan would often open the dealership at 3 or 4 in the morning for some local farmer who needed parts or gas which shows his commitment to customer service. Stan’s brother Ron would soon join the business and eventually gain fame as a Dodge dealer in Omaha. Since 1951 Stan Olsen has owned several  dealerships and currently sells five makes of import vehicles. During Stan's career in the car business he has served on the Nebraska Dealer Board for several years and even did a stint as president of that organization.

Stan’s children Jim, John & Jane are Vice Presidents of the company now and handle the day to day operations.

Stan Olsen Auto Center is now located at 808 No. 102nd Street in Omaha, across the street from Westroads Mall. The current location was built from the ground up in 1971 and has remained in operation since that time. Stan still comes to work almost every day and tries to call every customer who brings their vehicle in for service. This fact is a testament to Stan’s belief that nothing is more important than the customer and service is our number one commitment.
